"You don’t stop moving because you get older; you grow old because you quit moving."

At 73 years old, Ron du Preez is defying expectations and proving that age is just a number. As a long-distance walker, runner, and cyclist, he has covered distances that would challenge athletes half his age, pursuing excellence in every activity. But for him, it’s about more than just endurance―it’s about inspiring others.

With every mile he walks or runs, he carries a critical message: movement is the key to strength, longevity, and a vibrant life. He knows firsthand that staying active isn’t just about fitness―it’s about independence, confidence, and defying the notion that growing older means slowing down to a crawl. His mission is to alert fellow seniors that it’s never too late to start moving, set new goals, and achieve things never considered as possible.

Recognized in Who’s Who in America in 2025, former Professor Ron du Preez, serves as a full-time clergy and volunteer hospital chaplain―yet he takes time to exercise every day, often with his active wife Lynda. As a result of his focus on fitness, Dr. du Preez became the 1993 Tennessee State Racewalking Champion, the 2021 Kansas Grandmasters Marathon Champion of the Road Runners Club of America, and the only sub-four hour finisher of those over 70 years of age in the 2025 Los Angeles Marathon.

Whether it's a short walk around the neighborhood or a 50k walk or run, Ron believes that every step counts. His journey is proof that the body thrives on movement, and with determination, everyone can take control of their health―one stride at a time.
