This weekend, Ron is making a special stop in Loma Linda, California to spend time in one of the world’s Blue Zones, where wellness is a way of life, and where 10 times as many live to 100, as in the rest of the USA. It’s a pause in the physical journey for Ron, but not in the purpose of this project. He is reconnecting, recharging, and sharing the spirit behind his mission. Sometimes the most meaningful strides are the ones that remind us why we started.

After taking a break to rest and recover, from Friday evening until Saturday evening, Ron will be back on the move―now to participate in the 30-mile Born to Run Ultra Marathon race, in Los Olivos, California, and thus complete his 50-kilometer goal for May 17. This night-time event will test the determination that’s carried him thus far. The daunting, dark trails will challenge him to the core―another day, another state, another step forward!

Ron arrives at the Hoover Dam, Nevada, with the night-time challenge behind him and another 50k ahead. Thankful for his support crew who drive him to the next state, he gets some well-deserved sleep. The opportunity to enjoy the desert landscape and spring wildflowers, brings a change of pace. But, Ron feels quite at home here, having hiked on trails around the Hoover Dam before: it’s the perfect place for another day of steady movement. The journey continues―state by state, step by step.

Widely considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world, with its rich human and geological history, this iconic destination forms a spectacular and inspiring interlude in a project focused on energizing and empowering everyone, especially those over 65, to engage in physical fitness―one step at a time.
